The O-RAN Software Community (O-RAN SC) [1] is a collaborative effort between the O-RAN Alliance and the Linux Foundation to support the reference software implementation of the architectures and specifications created by the O-RAN Alliance Working Groups. Samsung Research has been steadily increasing its efforts within the O-RAN SC since 2019 by contributing to the Radio Intelligent Controller (RIC) and RICAPP projects [4].
AI methods are advancing across a range of applications from computer vision and natural language processing to autonomous control. There are many facets to AI’s capabilities that determine how useful it is in our lives. Besides the obvious metrics of peak accuracy or efficacy of an AI system at its task, other facets include: How effectively can it learn a new task from a small amount of data or experience? Can it perform, or even learn, within the limited hardware and battery power available on a handheld device?
6G system is expected to be a platform providing hyper-connectivity to everyone and everything in the 2030’s. Along with continuous improvement of 5G services, new 6G services with various requirements are emerging, such as truly immersive extended reality, high-fidelity mobile hologram, collaborative robots, and digital replica.
