We meet Mr. Din Zimelle Buenaobra, one of the SRPH engineers who has shown passion in learning and has found opportunities to share this passion not only with his peers here in Samsung but also with developers all over the globe.

Introduce yourself and what you do in SRPH

I am Din Zimelle Buenaobra. I am involved in release engineering, automation, creating CI/CD pipelines, maintenance, monitoring, and logging systems for the development of some test automation tools in Samsung. I am also part of an internal committee that focuses on cloud certification, and our mission is to drive the learning program which aims to assist our fellow SRPH engineers in leveling up their Cloud technology skills.

In addition, I am a Certified Linux Administrator, AWS Solutions Architect Professional and SysOps Administrator, MS Azure Administrator and ITIL certified.

Recently, I have been involved with CompTIA as a Subject Matter Expert.

What is CompTIA and how did you become involved with the organization?

CompTIA, or the Computing Technology Industry Association is a leading voice and advocate for the $5 trillion global information technology ecosystem; and the estimated 75 million industry and tech professionals who design, implement, manage and safeguard the technology that powers the world’s economy. I applied and was selected for their SME program for the Item Workshop, whose main objectives are to create, develop, review exam contents and provide judgments about the quality/difficulty of their certifications particularly with the CompTIA Linux+ exam. These certifications are being taken by IT Professionals globally that will help them advance their career and validate their skills.

I am the only Filipino who was selected and was able to participate in the said program, and I was able to join the ranks of other IT Professionals from different companies across the globe. I assume that I qualified in the program due to my several CompTIA certifications and my current respectable employer. To name a few, there are also professionals from Microsoft, Amazon Web Services, Vodafone, etc.

What are the activities you do w/ CompTIA as a Subject Matter Expert?

CompTIA subject matter experts are individuals who are deemed qualified to represent specific CompTIA certifications based on their strong expertise, knowledge and experience in particular areas. The purpose of SMEs is to assist in the development phases of CompTIA’s certification exams.

SMEs are expected to possess the skills for the target job role to conduct accurate and valid content development initiatives for a CompTIA certification. SMEs are also expected to learn how to develop exam content, review the exam content, and provide judgments about the quality/difficulty of our exams. What is your vision for SRPH certifications, and how do you plan to utilize your experience in CompTIA to realize that?

My vision for the certification in SRPH is to help our fellow engineers to reach their maximum potential by encouraging them to take certification exams that will level up their skills and will enable them be able to contribute to the fast and steady growth of Samsung in general.

Currently, as a member of the Cloud Certification Focus group and the faculty head for my team, my plan is to offer more quality certification focus courses under the our internal learning program - not only in Cloud technology, but also in other areas of expertise like Networking, Linux and ITIL, which I think will greatly benefit our SRPH engineers. I will also be a devoted advocate for certifications inside our institution to maintain and produce high standard of talented employees.

IT Professionals should know the importance of certification exams. This is to validate their skills and can give them competitive advantage and more job opportunities.
