Umberto Michieli, a researcher at Samsung R&D Institute UK (SRUK), has received the New Generation Star award at the IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS) 2024, the premier conference in the field of robotic research.
The award has been given to 25 young researchers active in the robotics and automation field for 3-10 years after Ph.D. The award ceremony took place during IROS 2024, held in Abu Dhabi (UAE): https://iros2024-abudhabi.org/
The award recognizes Umberto's notable contributions to the field of robotics and highlights the potential impact of his research on future advancements. Umberto specializes in robotic vision, human-robot interaction, and efficient adaptation of AI models in real-world applications.
Additionally, Umberto and his team at SRUK have published three papers at this year’s IROS:
- “Cross-Architecture Auxiliary Feature Space Translation for Efficient Few-Shot Personalized Object Detection”, Francesco Barbato, Umberto Michieli, Jijoong Moon, Pietro Zanuttigh, Mete Ozay
- “Swiss DINO: Efficient and Versatile Vision Framework for On-device Personal Object Search”, Kirill Paramonov, Jia-Xing Zhong, Umberto Michieli, Jijoong Moon, Mete Ozay
- “Enhanced Model Robustness to Input Corruptions by Per-corruption Adaptation of Normalization Statistics”, Elena Camuffo, Umberto Michieli, Simone Milani, Jijoong Moon, Mete Ozay
