The HbbTV Association has announced Nguyen Thi Thanh Van, Head of TV Interactive Middleware Development at Samsung R&D Institute Poland (SRPOL), the winner of the Best Individual Contribution to the HbbTV Association at the HbbTV Symposium and Awards 2021 in Paris, November 25, 2021.
Hybrid broadcast broadband TV (HbbTV) is a global organization dedicated to providing open standards to deliver advanced interactive TV services through broadcast and broadband networks for connected TV sets and set-top boxes. Next-generation TV platforms based on HbbTV are live in more than 40 countries around the world.
HbbTV is founded and thrives on individual voluntary contributions from its members. Since 2017, the organization has recognized this with a special award at its annual symposiums. The winner of the award is selected by vote by over 75 members from the consumer electronics and broadcast industries around the world.
Van has been awarded twice, at its first edition in 2017 and again this year.
The award is a recognition for Van’s effort as HbbTV Testing Group Chair in driving HbbTV activities in conformance testing, which is of benefit to both equipment manufacturers and broadcasters who produce hardware or content specific to meet the HbbTV standard.
We believe that the award will strengthen Van’s leadership position in particular, and Samsung’s in general in the HbbTV industry, and positively influence Samsung’s relations with other players in the media industry.
Her success is an inspiration for many of her colleagues at SRPOL as well as at other Samsung ORCs around the world.
Van joined Samsung in 2007, and currently, she leads a development team that provides solutions for HbbTV and ATSC 3.0 Interactive Content.
She has been involved in HbbTV Testing Group since 2011. Van was elected group Vice-Chair in 2013 and group Chair in 2018.
