Samsung Pay debuts in Poland

Samsung Electronics Poland and Samsung R&D Institute Poland are excited to announce the launch of Samsung Pay in the Polish market. Starting October 28, Galaxy users can add their Visa and Mastercard payment cards to the Samsung Wallet app to make quick, convenient and secure contactless payments using their smartphone or smartwatch. Mobile payments on Galaxy devices are a great addition to Samsung Wallet's digital offerings.

Until now Samsung Wallet has offered Polish users features such as storing loyalty cards, tickets, and digital keys. Now, with the launch of Samsung Pay, Samsung Wallet has all the features users could want, and it becomes the go-to place for managing all your digital life within the Galaxy ecosystem.

Samsung Pay's launch in Poland was a big success, with seven banks on board, plus strong support from Visa, Mastercard, and other non-payment partners. Samsung Wallet users can now add payment cards from the following banks:

•   Credit Agricole

•   mBank

•   Millennium

•   Nest Bank

•   Pekao

•   PKO BP

•   Santander

From the beginning, Samsung R&D Institute Poland has supported the launch of Samsung Wallet and Pay. The product management, development, Quality Assurance, and design teams were highly engaged in the project and contributed to the service's successful launch. They provided expertise in product management, strategy, and security, while coordinating a task force among networks, issuers and QA, and ensured the released app met the highest quality standards.

Today Samsung Pay in the Samsung Wallet app sets a new standard in transaction security. It uses the advanced Samsung Knox security platform, which provides multi-level data protection — from hardware to software. Unlike standard Android solutions, Knox creates an additional, isolated security layer (Trusted Execution Environment — TEE), where key wallet elements, such as payment processing, biometrics, and data encryption operate.

Each transaction is protected by end-to-end encryption technology — data is encrypted throughout the entire communication path between the device and the bank and it is stored exclusively on the user's device rather than on external servers. Even if the transmission is intercepted, the information remains impossible to decrypt.

Samsung Pay also uses hardware security. Components such as the fingerprint reader, touch screen, and display modules operate within an isolated TEE environment. Additional security mechanisms, such as Trusted Boot, Secure Boot, and real-time kernel protection, prevent attempts to root or modify the device. If a threat is detected, the wallet and all payment data are automatically blocked.
