Samsung Bangladesh has successfully completed the 6th Batch of ‘Junior Software Academy’ (IT education to school students) with the motto – ‘Smart Education, Smart Generation’. The program was facilitated by Samsung R&D Institute Bangladesh, Dhaka, with the purpose of providing ICT education to children studying in school and prepare them for a digital future. This program was a part of Samsung’s CSR activities in Bangladesh.

Classes for the Junior Software Academy were held every Friday, starting from August 19, 2022 to October 7, 2022 at Samsung R&D Institute Bangladesh Ltd. (SRBD), Dhaka.

Students from 17 different middle schools around Dhaka city participated in the Junior Software Academy. These students are the children or relatives of Samsung R&D Institute Bangladesh (SRBD) employees. Several members (senior engineers with depth knowledge) from different department of Samsung R&D Institute Bangladesh (SRBD) gave training to the students.

Students got hands on training on basic IT education and IT equipment. Training content included basic computer operations, Photoshop, basic programming, MS Office applications, basic math and introduction to different platforms like Android. Students also learned about the history of Samsung Electronics, get basic knowledge on Samsung consumer products.

Upon completion of the course, students received certificates and Gifts from the Management of Samsung Bangladesh on the closing ceremony. Mr Wonmo Ku, the Managing Director of Samsung R&D Institute Bangladesh (SRBD) was present as the distinguished guest at the ceremony.

There he said, “We are extremely delighted to be able host the software academy for the Bangladeshi students, as they can use this knowledge to further the development of the ICT sector in the nation. With the government planning to introduce programming and coding lessons in all levels of education, such a program can further help students be better prepared for a digital future.”

Some of the students and guardians also shared their beautiful journey of this training. They expressed that they are interested in participating more sessions on SRBD.
