SRBD Empowers Underprivileged Children through IT Education


Samsung R&D Institute Bangladesh (SRBD) commenced the Junior Software Academy (JSA) for the first half of 2024 on April 26. Junior Software Academy is a part of Samsung’s CSR (Corperate Social Responsibility) activities in Bangladesh dedicated to providing IT education to school students. SRBD’s main objective through the program is to equip children in school with ICT skills and prepare them for the digital future.

The training consisted of total 30 students from two different NGOs. These students were enrolled in the course based on a proposal from SRBD. Classes were held every Friday, starting from April 26 to July 5, 2024.

The opening ceremony of the program took place inside SRBD and included a welcome speech from Md. Shaiful Islam (Head of HR) and SM Shajjad Hossain Shajib (Manager, Project Management), where they emphasized on how such an initiative can be a good learning opportunity for all the students and improve their tech skills.


Students of the training program got basic knowledge on Samsung consumer products and learned about the history of Samsung Electronics. Throughout the timeline of the training, students also learned about MS Office applications, basic Math, graphic design, basic programming, and an introduction to mobile app development platforms like Android.

The closing ceremony of the training program took place at SRBD. Mr Wonmu Ku, the Managing Director of SRBD being the distinguished guest, along with representatives from concern NGOs. The representatives expressed their satisfaction and gratitude for organizing this program. Simultaneously, the students felt motivated to participate in it, as they believe it will help them prepare well for their future careers.


The management of SRBD also handed over each student with a completion certificate accompanied with a gesture of thanks. The event concluded with a photo session involving attendees, instructors, and esteemed visitors.
