Diagnose your Galaxy Watch Conveniently

The self-diagnostics feature helps users to diagnose the watch by themselves instead of visiting Customer Care Center and spending valuable time and money for just a routine check-up. When using a device for a long time, it is common for a user to be concerned about the device's health and whether all functionalities are working fine. User concerns about their device performance have Samsung to develop the Self-Diagnostics feature on their devices, including Galaxy Watches.

The self-diagnostics feature will help the user to know if any functionalities are not working properly, allowing the user to take proper actions regarding device care when necessary. This can help to resolve minor issues before it becomes a major issue. Samsung is committed to providing help to Galaxy Watch users to use the products in their best condition as long as possible. That’s why Samsung provides diagnostics to troubleshoot device issues.

How to access Watch Self-Diagnostics?

To utilize this feature, the user first need to update or install the latest Samsung Member app, Galaxy Wearable app, and update to the latest watch software. After updating all terminals, if the mobile and wearable watch device is connected with each other, users can see the "Connected Device Diagnostics" menu created in the Support tab at the bottom of the Samsung Members app.

If users look at the corresponding menu, the watch that is currently connected to the mobile is displayed, and users can diagnose the watch by clicking the relevant option. When a watch is connected with a mobile for the first time, diagnostic software for testing is installed on the watch, and the watch can be diagnosed after the diagnostic software installation is completed, after which available features for wearable diagnostics will be displayed.

The self-diagnostics feature helps users to learn about device status. Currently, Watch diagnostics supports 16 important features for users to check device health. This includes Battery status, Sensors, Power restart status, Wi-Fi, Official Software, Check for software updates, Touch screen, Speaker, Mic, Vibration, Wrist Detection, Wireless Charging, Location accuracy, Notification, and Bezel (which is available only in devices that have physical rotating bezels). These features will greatly help the user to make sure their devices are working properly.

Users can check the operation test by clicking on the list one by one. Some functions make sound for testing or require permissions, which can be authorized through the watch. To perform a test user need to tap on item shown in phone, the corresponding test will run on watch. After performing test on watch the test result is shown in phone.

If the functionality of the test item is working properly then test result is shown as 'Normal', but if there is any issue found or test is not performed according to guideline or before timeout, test is considered as failed, it will show "Action required" like below:

After performing test of items, the test list in phone will show each test status. Here user can find which item requires action and which items are working as expected.

Samsung R&D Institute Bangladesh (SRBD) has led the development of all these tests in Watch side applications.

Ongoing Notification

While tests are running, the test may go to background for different reasons. For example, on Home key press, or when a call or notification is received. In that case, the user can resume the test from notification panel as progress is showing as a notification item in notification panel (left side of the watch face).

In the end, we can say that the Self Diagnostics feature consist of handy and useful sets of tools which offers diagnosis of a wide range of watch components. It will enable users to check the internal status of their watch themselves, especially if some problems are suspected. This will result in greater user comfort and convenience.
