In March 2023, Samsung R&D Institute Poland (SRPOL)’s People Group organized an event called Development Days – a special 4-day event for all our SRPOL colleagues for whom the idea of development is close to the heart. The event was organized online in a ‘hop-on hop-off’ form so that each person could individually choose the most interesting parts of the agenda and freely join the presenters during each day. Almost 500 participants logged onto the meeting links throughout the four days, joining various activities.
The event was dedicated to the concept of constant development, its importance in our professional work and to all the possibilities the Company offers its employees. The slogan ‘Development in your hands’ (DIYH) conveys the true meaning of the initiative – it is each and every one of us who has the power to reach for the knowledge to help shape our future. This idea is supported by MD Yuna Kim, who opened the first day of the event with a speech presenting her view on the importance of constant development and sharing knowledge through internal training within the Company.
Participants had the unique opportunity not only to talk about the development programs available in SRPOL, but also to meet all the L&D coordinators and put a face to the name they may have only known from the series of training communications. Each day was dedicated to a specific area – personal (soft skills), technical and leader’s development, culminating with an English language version of the event. Each day was also filled with webinars by external speakers and InspoStorys by leaders and experts from various areas of the Company, who shared their development experiences and their view on the importance of knowledge sharing.
Why is continuous development so important?
We live in a world in which the only constant thing is ‘change’. The speed of technology development and how incorporated it is in our lives – both professional and personal ones – requires that we quickly adapt to the surrounding environment. The only way we can achieve that is by constantly pushing ourselves further, by thinking about what we need, learning new knowledge and excelling in the skills that we already have. Samsung is a Learning Organization. It means that the process of learning and skill development is at its very core. It is an organization that prioritizes personal and professional growth through knowledge transfer – which simply means it provides learning opportunities in various fields of interest and promotes sharing knowledge among its employees.
We can observe this perfectly looking at the long list of SRPOL internal trainers – these are our own experts and people with passion for what they do, who provide lectures and training in technical areas, soft-skills development and leadership programs. Knowledge sharing is what makes us stand out as a company. Remember, your development is in your hands!
