On November 20, the R&D 100 Awards ceremony was held in Scottsdale, Arizona, recognizing this year’s most impactful research and engineering innovations.
Earlier in August, the joint research team from Samsung Research’s Life Solution Team and the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) had been selected as a 2025 R&D 100 Award winner for its project, “Scalable, Energy Efficient CHESS Thin‑Film Thermoelectric Refrigerator.” The team officially received the award in the Mechanical/Material category during the banquet.
This achievement underscores the growing potential of next-generation thermoelectric cooling technologies and their applicability across future consumer, medical, and industrial applications.
