Samsung R&D Institute Poland Showcases Innovations at The World Sleep Congress 2025

Samsung R&D Institute Poland (SRPOL) members actively participated in the World Sleep Congress 2025, held in Singapore from September 5th to September 10th, 2025, organized by the World Sleep Society. This event brought together leading specialists in sleep medicine, researchers, clinicians, technologists, and educators from around the globe.

The 18th edition of the congress served as a global platform to share knowledge, present the latest research findings, showcase technological innovations, and foster international collaboration in sleep science and circadian medicine. World Sleep 2025 included over 350 hours of scientific and clinical content, featuring 12 plenary lectures, 123 symposia, and more than 1,800 abstracts.

Key Topics and Highlights

The congress explored major themes such as the neurobiology of sleep, obstructive sleep apnea, circadian rhythms, pediatric sleep medicine, dental sleep medicine, and AI applications in sleep research. Discussions focused on AI-assisted diagnosis, automated sleep scoring, predictive modeling, and data interpretation.

Samsung Health SDK Suite Showcase

The exhibition took place from September 8th to 10th, with Samsung as one of the key sponsors and exhibitors.

Samsung highlighted the Galaxy Watch8 Series, featuring Bedtime Guidance, Sleep Apnea Risk Detection, and Stress Management. An engaging 'Sleep Animal' survey helped participants learn about their sleep profiles.

Additionally, Jongmin Choi, VP of Samsung Health R&D, along with Moonbae Song from Samsung Suwon and external partners, led a workshop and lunch sessions titled "Transforming Sleep Science with Wearable and Next Generation Technology: Samsung Opportunities and Case Studies." The sessions emphasized AI solutions, privacy considerations, and user-centered design in the Samsung Health application.

Samsung's Presence at the Exhibition

One of the stations at the booth was specifically dedicated to the Samsung Health SDK Suite. SDKs Suite empower developers and researchers to securely access health data from the Samsung Health application or sensors built into Galaxy Watches, with user’s consent.

SRPOL experts, along with colleagues from Suwon, conducted a code lab session where participants learned how to utilize the Sensor SDK and Data SDK in Android applications. As part of this experience, visitors explored the latest EDA (Electrodermal Activity) monitoring feature on the Galaxy Watch8.

To demonstrate practical applications, SRPOL experts prepared two examples – one for the Watch and one for the Phone – showcasing how to gather and interpret EDA values, particularly for sleep analysis.

This year's WSC25 served as an excellent platform for showcasing the Samsung Health SDK Suite. Through intuitive and user-friendly sample applications, SDK Evangelists from SRPOL effectively shared insights into Samsung's solutions for accessing health data collected via Samsung Wearables.

By providing robust and accessible tools like the Samsung Health SDK Suite, Samsung empowers researchers to develop innovative solutions that significantly enhance people's health and well-being.
