On the 29th of August, 2024, Polish Minister of Science, Dariusz Wieczorek, visited Samsung R&D Institute Poland(SRPOL) center located in Warsaw. The goal of the visit was strengthening collaboration between SRPOL and Polish research institutions and universities under the auspices of the Ministry of Science, establishing the common goal between the Ministry and businesses such as ours, and searching for more opportunities to make those two worlds of science and business meet. The meeting was attended by the Minister of Science, and representatives of Samsung Electronics Poland (SEPOL) and SRPOL.
The meeting started with a brief introduction of Samsung company and its business portfolio presented by VP Adam Roś who placed particular emphasis on the location of Samsung’s R&D center in Poland, its global importance to Samsung company, and its impact on Polish business and scientific scene. Our speakers presented also examples of existing and past cooperation between our center and various universities that proved fruitful thanks to the extensive knowledge of Polish scientists and unparalleled business and cooperation initiatives offered by our center. Thanks to Samsung’s presence in Poland, we can not only provide job opportunities for Polish residents, but also focus on functionalities that would be helpful for Polish consumers, like recently added Galaxy AI feature called “Live Translate” that lets you translate calls and all written text from and to the Polish language.
SRPOL goes also above and beyond when it comes to cooperation with students, providing not only paid student internships, but also opportunities for young scientists to work on their masters or PhD dissertations together in our company. We also provide many opportunities to participate in lectures of prominent Polish and global scientists who we invite to our center on a regular basis, answering the needs of our employees. What is more, we also organize and conduct series of lectures at universities called “Samsung Innovations”, enriching their curriculum and students’ perception of business that awaits them.
The Minister of Science expressed his gratitude to VP Martin Shim for our 24-year-old presence on the Polish market, and expressed his willingness to help facilitate further access to Polish scientific and research scene to the business. We also had a chance to discuss best practices and current collaboration scenarios, including research, education, know-how exchange and competency development.
